Departmental Characteristics: Planning and Implementation of Generative AI Technology in Design Courses
• Through the "Course Committee", the department head shares teaching plans for AI-assisted design (details in Attachment 0), facilitating open discussions and building consensus among full-time design faculty regarding generative AI-assisted design.
• Encouraging all design students to explore new possibilities of generative AI-assisted design to enhance course outcomes.
• Associate Professor Shih Sheng-Cheng, who also serves as the department head, guided fourth-year student Tseng Chih-Chien to win first place in the "Creative Future: 2024 Generative AI Creative Design Competition" in the concept design category, with the poster detailed in Attachment 1.
• Building on the 2024 Creative Future Competition award, the department head continued mentoring Tseng Chih-Chien to participate in the "17th Taiwan Digital Media Design Association International Conference", where he presented a research paper titled "Integrating LoRA Style Models and Experiential Learning Theory: Constructing a New Interior Design Communication Framework". The oral presentation received high praise from conference reviewers, with photos detailed in Attachment 2.
• In the 2024 academic year, Associate Professor Shih mentored third-year student Gao Yi-Xun, who successfully passed the undergraduate research project with the research topic "Comparing Traditional and AI-Assisted Interior Design Processes: A Study Targeting Second-Year Students".
